Training News#

Training for operators commenced as part of Burlington's Techie Night program on Thursday evenings starting April 8, 2010, and will continue until Field Day. Details at TrainingOperators.

Field Day 2010#

The ARRL Field Day 2010 package is available at ARRL Field Day. The date is June 26-27 this year.

Once again, the Burlington Amateur Radio Club and the Oakville Amateur Radio Club are collaborating on a joint Field Day exercise. The event will be held on the grounds of Naylor Group and Wellspring Pharmaceuticals at 455 North Service Rd in Oakville (not far from the Oakville Place Mall). See details and planning (and give your input) at Field Day 2010. There will be very little mud even if it does rain, so please plan on attending!

This year, in addition to the regular station, we will also be running a Battery (and maybe solar) powered QRP station, with special focus on CW and digital modes. QRP battery stations qualify for huge additional points. Unfortunately, to qualify, all transmissions need to be at 5W or less, so we can't combine the QRP station's points with the main station, but we'll know...

Field Day 2009#

Colin Haig, VE3MSC wrote a very nice article for the Burlington Newsletter, which you can find at BARC Jan/Feb 2010 Newsletter. The article has also appeared in The Canadian Amateur Mar/April 2010 edition.

The Burlington Amateur Radio Club and the Oakville Amateur Radio Club collaborated on a joint Field Day exercise, running a 3A station that placed First in Ontario and Third in Canada (3A category). See details at Field Day 2009.
